Have You Considered Adoption?

An unplanned pregnancy can leave you feeling like you are in a tailspin. Your plans for the future will suddenly change and may bring about a tidal wave of questions and uncertainty. Everyone you know, from friends to your family, will have an opinion on what you should do.

All of these thoughts will be valid and you should listen, but ultimately it’s going to be up to you and your partner to decide what is the best plan for your circumstances.

Some young people who don’t feel as though parenting and raising a baby is an option. Every person’s situation is different. Making an adoption plan is a courageous choice that comes with the difficult sacrifice of letting go. Yet, it also brings great joy in having a relationship with the family you choose and your child to let them know why you did this for them. Adoption is not “giving away” a baby. It’s an opportunity to give your baby a first chance, and yourself a second chance. It takes great love to put your baby’s needs ahead of your own. Some may feel as if they don’t have the financial resources to raise a child. Others may not have a support system of loved ones who will be able to help. A young, pregnant woman may not even have a partner who will be a part of the baby’s life. Whatever the reason, adoption may be a choice to consider.
